When children are abused they don't know how to file it in their minds. They believe it was their fault because adults are supposed to protect them. So they carry that shame into their adulthood and relationships. There may be behaviors because of what they went through. They may turn to drugs and alcohol and toxic relationships. No Longer Ashamed came to be because of the hard work of recovery. In doing the work it was evident many people are afraid or ashamed to tell their story. It doesn't have to be that way. Our purpose is to share our stories and others so you will hear that you are not alone.
